[Error: unknown template qotd]"To all the NIMBYs in the world, toughen up. Stop thinking about yourself all the time and look at the whole picture, everything in life is NOT about pleasing you."
As for where that comes from, well, a lot of people today are griping about the new EU ban on selling the old style light bulbs. Now everyone has to buy energy-saving bulbs, which I think is good, they last much longer and save loads on my electricity bills. Only everyone else seems to complain, 'oh it doesn't work on my dimmer switch' 'oh it doesn't give off the right sort of light' ' it takes too long to warm up'. Best one is 'they cost too much' No they don't, they cost the same as the old ones. Plus you buy a hell of lot less of them in a lifetime! They should be damn glad they don't live in the time when it was reading by candlelight or oil lamp.
That and we've got a company itching to set up some small wind turbines near some local villages. They're not actually going to be in the villages, but you would be able to see them. Hoorah, some renewable energy around here at last! Or it would be if not for the NIMBYs whose only objection is, they don't want to look at them. Well I say, you don't like it, then tough, I think taking care of the Earth is more important than your view, however nice it might be. Grow up the lot of you!

I'm with you in thinking that energy conservation is good, but obviously.. rather not do it at the cost of my sanity! *grins*
