Amusing conversation about universal healthcare

I got into an argument last night with someone over whether or not America needs universal healthcare. I of course think it does and the chap I was arguing with thinks it doesn't  His claims were that it's not economically feasible or financially viable. He also said he doesn't want to pay a little extra so scrougers off the state can get free medical aid ( conveniently forgetting the millions of Americans who don't scrouge and still can't afford health insurance). After a while he came out with a comment about Democrats and them imposing their Communistic practices on us and I realized I had spent a good hour arguing with a parrot that works for the Republican party. Go figure. :P

Too bad your guy doesn't realize that we probably pay MORE by way of insurance premiums now, than if we paid an elevated tax to have Universal healthcare.

Why are people so afraid of change?

Hope you are well!

Yep, doing very well thanks! :)

I don't know why he's afraid of change. He keeps coming out with comments about how the NHS and Canadian systems are really bad off and they don't work, so he clearly doesn't understand the way UH works.

They're all going to have their flaws. The point, to me, is that they are making the best effort they can to change their healthcare system, but also to change how they view people--as EQUALS WHO DESERVE EQUAL SOCIAL CARE.

Who ever heard of such?
