Well given the mess that Bush left him (two wars, a recession and trillions of dollars of debt and mass unemployment among other things) I think he's done pretty well. I hope he's able to push this healthcare bill through. Compared to Britain, the fact that a good many Americans seem to think it's ok to leave millions of their own countrymen uninsured. It was mostly that and his policies on Iran and N Korea that made me vote for him. I'd vote for him again if he runs in 2012 for sure. I may not live in America anymore but it's surprising how who's in the Oval Office makes a difference on the rest of the world. I didn't listen to his State of the Union address though.

Though more urgently I need to figure out who to vote for in Britain's upcoming General Election. All I can say is it's anyone except Labour. I hate them.

I'm sort of relieved I'm not a citizen yet; I hate all the major party leaders... a LOT. I would not want any of them running the government, and it would be an even worse case of picking the least annoying candidate than most US elections have been for me. -__-

I'm not exactly convinced that the Conservatives are much better. I think it's going to be a case of 'Hmm, who will fuck me over the least?'. I'll probably vote liberal, just to stop either of the big parties getting my vote.

I think Obama has done a good job so far. I watched the State of the Union Address and I think he brought up a lot of important issues that both Republicans and Democrats could appreciate. There were some points that the GOP members acted as though they didn't care for, like giving 30 billion dollars for small business loans, but most of his points everyone applauded. His main focus is getting companies back on track and hiring people who are out of work. Jobs, jobs, jobs is his #1 priority.

I hate them all too, so I guess it's a choice of lesser evils. I'll probably go with someone other than Lab/Lib/Con.

Cameron I think is a lot of talk and not much else. I'm not terribly impressed with Lib Dems either, though normally that's who I'd vote for. I'm sorely tempted to vote UKIP because someone needs to start putting this country first. :P

Sounds like a really good speech then. I wish Brown would do the same for us. He's talking about bringing in millions of migrants to build the Olympic site even though there's millions of British builders out of work. Nice. Whatever the Reps think of Obama at least he hasn't screwed over the working class like Brown has with us.

It seems there used to be an option here where you could mark everything, and that would count as you registering an official 'none of the above' vote. Alas, that option isn't available anymore, else I'd happily avail myself upon it.

So would I! I think they took that out because they're all frightened to find out what the public really thinks.

Very likely! Suffices to say, the removal of that option means that my friend Myk outright refuses to vote right now, and having to NOT vote upsets him greatly. But he refuses to vote for someone that doesn't match what he wants, so... it's not a happy trap!
